What
What is the Taiwan Green Mark?
The Taiwan Green Mark is based on the principles and procedures of ISO 14024 for environmental labeling. It aims to encourage those products and services with less impact on the environment to drive environmental protection potential through production, supply, and market demand mechanisms. To achieve this, the Taiwan Green Mark is only awarded to the top 20–30% of products with the best environmental performance within the same category.
Currently, “Green Labels”are promoted in more than 50 regions worldwide. The Taiwan Green Mark features “a green leaf wrapping a pure, unpolluted Earth,” symbolizing the environmental concept of “recyclable, low pollution, and resource-saving.” In recent years, under strong government promotion, energy conservation and carbon reduction have become not only a trend but also enhance corporate image and add value to products.
Through the Green Procurement Act, the government increases the proportion of procurement of Green Mark products each year. Many private retailers are also transforming, actively stocking products with the Green Mark and promoting green consumption, making it easier for consumers to purchase and use Green Mark products as alternatives to conventional ones. The Green Mark not only benefits the environment but also changes traditional production and consumption behaviors.
